The two dominant clubs, Federal and Rovers, in the KFC Alice Springs Netball Association look set to continue their power in Division this season. This is despite pre-season moves by the association to even the competition. Federal Eastside Red defeated Neata Glass Giants 51-16 and Rovers Complete Construction overcame Wests Epilogue 57-29 at the Pat Gallagher Netball Centre on Friday night.

Molly Southam set Rovers on the way to victory shooting nine goals as the score was 14-6 at quarter  time. She, and Rovers, continued in the same vain for the rest of the game with Southam finishing with 37 goals.

Federal took control of the game against Giants from the start and led 13-2 at quarter time. Isabelle Ross was a focal point for Federal and shot 10 of her game tally of 39 goals in the first quarter.

As comprehensive as these scores were they were not the biggest of the night. Wests Gillen Club defeated Sundowners Alice Hospitality Supplies by 46 goals, 75-29. There was nothing to indicate the size of the margin with Wests leading 35-21 at half time. Wests went on a scoring spree after the long break adding 20 goals, to four by Sundowners, in both the third and fourth quarters.

The other Division one game resulted in a 49-20 win to Federal Eastside White against Seasons. Federal at least doubled Seasons goals in every quarter and scored double figure goals in all four terms.

There was a closer game in Division two where Rovers TDC defeated sister-side Rovers Complete 32-26. TDC took control of the game with nine goals to two second term to turn a one-goal quarter time deficit into a six-goal advantage. Bringing Ashley Patrech and Stacey Elliott on, to goal shooter and goal attack respectively, at half time ensured TDC did not let its advantage slip. Seasons won its Division two clash against Giants Alice Springs Brewing Co 54-26.

A strong finish by Giants Bark 'n' Bath, scoring eight goals to three, cemented a 24-17 win against Rovers Wreckers. Giants brought Ola Adeyma onto the court for the first time, at the final change, to run the last quarter from centre and this made a difference. Wests controlled its game against Rovers Raptors from start to finish on its way to a 24-14 victory. A 15-6 opening term by Federal Red laid the foundation to a 49-18 win against Rovers Ravens. Federal P&V Flames gradually chipped
away at a first quarter deficit against Wests Ward Keller to snatch a 30-30 draw.

Netball games return to Saturday at the weekend. Nominations are open for NT Link teams to play in the championship to be held in Darwin in May. They include players, coaches, managers and selectors.
